Abstract

The mapped area is 130 km north of the city of San Luis Potosí, and provides an important window to look at the most ancient rocks of the region corresponding to the Triassic Zacatecas and Nazas formations. These strata are unconformably overlain by Jurassic rocks, beginning with the La Joya, Zuloaga and La Caja Formations, and passing transitionally upward to Cretaceous rocks of the Taraises Formation (Berriasian-Valanginian).
