Abstract

The origin of the frequently intrusive character of the Precambrian marbles of the Oaxaqueño Complex is discussed. On the basis of the mineralogy, texture and structure of these marbles, it is concluded that they were mobilized by anatexis of impure limestone under the conditions of the granulite facies, at temperatures possibly around 750° C and in areas of high water pressure.
